What's in Your Room Descriptions

Posted on May 16th 2012

A common area that gets overlooked in eTourism Online is our room & package descriptions. Too often we  will see simply ‘3 Night Stay’ which gives the potential customer no real information about what they are getting.

When someone is looking to stay at a property and they wish to book online, they want to know as much information as possible about what they are booking. After all they are spending their hard earned money at your property and they want to know what they are getting.

Also known as inclusions or room/package descriptions, the wording that you use to describe your room type and what you get when you book are of great importance.

Having a great description can be the reason you sell or don’t sell a given package. It can easily influence a guest as to whether they choose your property ahead of the rest.

To check your descriptions, simply log into your eTourism Online extranet and go to the Packages or Rates Menu. Click Modify and you will be able to alter the descriptions:

What should I include?

Well what is the customer getting and what else do they need to know?

It is always a good idea to give a bit of information about the actual room type. You should also maybe include how many guests are included in the rate before you charge a given price for additional guests. You might like to mention something about the view or the facilities in that room type. If you are giving away additional inclusions (e.g bottle of champagne on arrival etc) this is the place to include it. The rule is the more appropriate information the better.

eTourism does not support inclusions with channel managers at this stage but aim to be having this facility available in the future.
